seafarer victory 5.9 factory in hull transducer hole exposed

hey everyone looking at buying a 1995 seafarer victory 5.9. the factory in hull transducer hole next to the outboard has been removed and the hole has been exposed and water going in.
Just wondering if any one knows if water would be getting to the transom and rotting it out cheers guys

Your location description is a little vague. On my Victory the hole is in one of the port side planing strakes. There is an access cover on the floor of the cockpit so you can get to it from the top. On mine the area that the transducer sits in is completely glassed in so any water that got in there would not be able to escape. It may get inside the hull but no water would be able to get inside the transom.

Goochi. My 2000 model V-Sea is the same. The Thru-Hull transducer appears sealed with access cover in cockpit floor

All thru-hull factory fitted transducers were in a sealed box in hull (and obviously through GRP, not timber). I suspect this is a transom mount transducer where someone has cut a hole for the transducer plug.
