Heres a link to their MSDS http://www.apexengineeringproducts.c...SDS_030115.pdf

Says its about 5-9% hydrochloric acid by weight. I have heard once you do the flush it can make your outboard more prone to a faster build up of salt. But a 20y old engine who really cares I guess.
I got from here in Perth - here's a link to the Oz website. I note the MSDS does show acid but recommends but not necessary to wear gloves so obviously very weak solution.

I don't think the media is enough to abrade away the surface as whatever the chosen circulation pump is unlikely to exert enough pressure. Rather I think it is to carry away the diluted residue.

How it's done on a diesel with some before and after pics

i plan to run it through my mercruisers later this year. If I had to clean them manually I'd be pulling 8 coolers off the 2 motors/transmissions.

Pulled heads off. All bolts released perfect. The inside looks great after 23 years. Small amounts of salt build up. Only one speck of corrosion which was only in the paint coating Acid washed everything we could. Honey coloured coating develops on inside and retards heat transfer. Acid helped to remove. Reassembled and will test on Maroochydore river. So if you see a 21 ft southwind going 5000 rpm on river. That's us. Safety first of course

Test run went perfect. 5000/5100 rpm for 25 mins. All good. Heat gun says 55c at heads. And no alarms
