    Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp

Hi guys....am having trouble setting up my Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp for fishing outside and don't seem to be able to read correctly the bottom.
Could you please advise settings that you use in the unit.
Also would upgrading the transducer from the box to an 1kw be worth the money.
    Many thanks

Have a look at these threads I posted in another forum re my Elite-7 CHIRP. I was never happy with the out of the box 83/200 , picture just started to get weak over 30 metres. Really meant for lakes and rivers, I think. I picked up a second-hand 50/200 HST-DFSBL for $100, really transformed it. Has a sturdier transom mount, as well. I think these transducers come as standard with some of the HDS models, not hard to find them cheap, brand new, as people put a P66 or similar on. BTW, those depths shown on the screen are fathoms, not metres--still not deep , (30-35 metres) how deep do you want to fish?
