    Mercury outboard problem

    Hey guys ive got a belgum made 6hp outboard and its really hard to start and when its running its misfires a few times and i cant keep it idling long before it clonks out just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it.

    Try the simple/ cheap things first. Fresh fuel and a new spark plug. Then go from there.

    Fuel is fresh and spark plugs are also new

    Is the breather screw open on your fuel tank/cap????

    Another thought, something similar happened to me once and I found I had the fuel hose around the wrong way, that's if your motor has a separate portable fuel tank.

    Once the engine is in gear and going its fine its just idleing it doesnt like

    And the the fuel line is connected properly it is a external tank

    clean the crap out of the idle jet.

    Simple things first... compression test to stop you beating around the bush!!!

    Hi Dante, had a similar issue recently, check the flywheel magnets haven't move on the flywheel.
