    FLIBS2016 PRESS RELEASE- NEW PRODUCT-GARMIN
oK so lets get this crazy boat show gift giving season started!. the first major press release of the show on new products is Garmin with some new GPSMAP series units.
namely in touch screen guise the 752XS and 952XS. these are kinda spiritual sucessors to the 751xs that was very popular a few years ago. with its built in AUS/NZ maps . however gone is the GCV10 requirement for clearvu sonar. all built in now. basically its a 7" & 9" 74xx series with built in mapping . perhaps a cut down spec form.

but the market has spoken and the demand for non touch units is still out there. so garmin took that idea and will reintroduce a 10" button model along with a new 12" model. revamped of cause with 1kw chirp sonar, built in mapping AUS/NZ. clear view sonar and a new rotary knob and button style keypad control.
see below for the full press release
and be sure to keep watching when they are released early 2017 i shall be giving a full review - Anthony Moose Cooke
Garmin is announcing the release of several new products at this week’s the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, among them new GPSMAP models set to arrive in the New Year.
Further expanding the popular GPSMAP product range, the new touchscreen and keyed units are packed with industry-leading sonar and chartplotting features. The new units offer full-network compatibility for the Garmin Marine Network, which allows support for sharing sonar, maps, user data, radar, IP cameras and Panoptix all-seeing sonar across multiple units. There’s also NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 support for autopilots, digital switching, weather, VHF, AIS and other sensors.
All 2017 GPSMAP models also feature built-in Quickdraw Contours software – an easy-to-use tool allowing boaters to instantly create personalised HD maps with 30cm contours on any body of water.
In the new GPSMAP touchscreen series, the compact 752xs (7” display) and 952xs (9” display) are equipped with 1kW traditional CHIRP sonar, CHIRP ClearVü scanning sonar for a near picture-quality view of what’s beneath the boat, as well as support for Panoptix all-seeing sonar. Built-in wireless connectivity for Garmin mobile apps and VIRB action camera integration is also standard. A 10Hz GPS/GLONASS receiver delivers smooth on-screen navigation, while preloaded premium mapping features include Australia/New Zealand BlueChart g2 HD charts.
For those who prefer a keypad interface, the new GPSMAP 1022xsv and GPSMAP 1222xsv (10” and 12” displays respectively) deliver unequalled all-in-one solutions. With an all-new industrial design, each unit features a large, sunlight-readable screen coupled with a keypad interface and new multifunction rotary control knob for precise, simple control of menu navigation and setting control, even in rough water. These units also offer user-programmable hot keys for one-touch access to favourite features and functions.
Along with the same GPS and connectivity features as the GPSMAP touchscreen series, the 1022xsv and 1222xsv also offer built-in 1kW CHIRP sonar, CHIRP ClearVü and CHIRP SideVü scanning sonar, as well as support for Panoptix all-seeing sonar and other premium Garmin sonar modules.
The GPSMAP 1022xsv and GPSMAP 1222xsv come preloaded with a worldwide basemap, with SD card slots to accept Garmin BlueChart g2 Vision HD charts. Along with adding 3D-views, underwater views and aerial photos, BlueChart g2 Vision HD also adds Garmin Auto Guidance, which eliminates the hassle of entering different waypoints to create a route to your destination. Simply move the cursor on the map to where you want to go and it will automatically plan the route from your vessel’s current location – avoiding shallow water and other charted obstructions. When networked with a Garmin autopilot, the system will also take you safely to your destination.
Premium sailing features have also been integrated into both new GPSMAP series, offering laylines, tidal information, enhanced wind rose, a current slider and other elements. All new models also offer integrated ANT support for use with the quatix 3 marine GPS smartwatch, Garmin Nautix in-view display, gWind Wireless 2 transducer, GNX Wind marine instrument and wireless remote controls.
Garmin’s new GPSMAP models are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2017.
