Thread: Mercury spanner/socket sizes, AF or Metric?

Thumbs down Mercury spanner/socket sizes, AF or Metric?

    Hi Guys
Just spent a couple of months at Lucinda,
Channel out and into the boat ramp is tough at low tide or even close to low tide and often some "sand mining" needed or wait for more water with the sand flies!

As a result, when turning the prop by hand, I could hear some sand scraping, so removed the prop, washed, cleaned and re-lubed the shaft, all good now

Was not sure about metric or AF for the Mercury, (60hp 2s),?
Found a socket that felt right but wasn't that sure?

The other thought that crossed my mind was I may have to drop the leg and replace the impeller one day which involves a lot more bolts, (and gaskets)

So are they metric or AF?
    ........Gary

I think they have changed to metric myusername, the 1998 manual mentions M10 for the leg bolts.

Yep, really early ones will be AF, but anything kind of recent will be Metric.
