Third attempt at taking the boys from work out for a fish and finally cracked decent enough weather. As they are all green horns we arrived at our spot at 4.30am. Quick run down on how to bait the hooks and how to use the reels and away we went. Ian get to the bottom first and hooks up half way up felt a bit ore weight but only pulls up a head. Deano hooks up and thinking it was another shark half dismissed it. He kept fighting it all the way to the boat fro a cracking 93cm Snapper, First time off shore and first ever snapper. Greta catch. The rest of the morning was catching Trag and, snapper and a few other bits and pieces. The boys were over the moon and had a great day out.

We were out there on Saturday in my mates 5 metre plate runabout and got a few Snaps though nothing big and a couple of Pearlies. Bit slow but never found the Trags. Very choppy till about 11.30 and then went like glass with Whales all around us at times. Saw a boat like yours just north of us with another doing the same drift by the looks. So much good ground out there! Did the big fella fall to a paternoster or a float liner?
Hi Malby,
Might have been us. We di see a 5m boat south of us but we were anchored most of the time. Got the big one first drop at around 4.30am. Got him on a pillie with a sinker about the size of a marble. 60lb leader with 2 6/0 and 1 7/0 octopus hooks snooded. We got most of the snapps floating down with that rig
