    Devilcat Project Resto

I've noticed lately that there is a lack of projects happening so I thought if you're all interested I start one on my Devilcat I bought a couple of months ago as a project for myself and my two young sons to do together.
So if it sounds like something you would like to follow let me know and I'll post up progress shots as we go.

    Re: Devilcat project resto

    It's a 1989 model built in Tassie, 5.2mtrs.
I bought it from a Tassie cow cocky who moved to Ballina to become a Sugar cane farmer. Story goes he never used it much because the diving and fishing out of Ballina was no good, go figure! Anyway it had twin 115 4s Yamahas that he drowned at the boat ramp and then broke a spring on the axel going home and lost an axel. Claimed the engines on insurance, cashed out and then sold it to me.
I've had a bit of work done to on it already, I towed it from Ballina down to Sydney to Devilcat2 and the major repaires done by Ray Patterson of Devilcat Boats.
It's in good condition for its age but at some stage has been repainted so repairs were tricky to match paint but Ray done an awesome job.
    Repairs so far-
When the spring let go the axel swung back a got caught between the motor leg and transom and dug out a large chunk of transom.
The previous owner used the cat a battering ram on the trailer and damaged both sponsons on the winch post.
Port side rear gunnel broken away.
Port side bow has been whacked hard enough to break gunnel.
Both transoms had shocking patch jobs done on the old long shaft motor mounting bolt holes.

It doesn't have pods, they are extensions as used on race boats I'm told. Apparently worth a small fortune each and make the boat handle and perform much better with X long shafts than Long shafts.

Over the next few days I'll post up more pics of the cat before the repairs, here's the damage transom first up.

The whole cat was repainted sometime ago so it will be colour matched and painted again.

    On nice,
I'm interested as my sharkcat was repainted a while ago and needs a could of spots resprayed. I'm unsure what paint was used originally so not sure what to use over the top. are most 2 pacs compatible?
What paint are you using for it?
