With the forecast showing a decent window our regular crew of 6 and 3 boats hit the beach last Monday on the back end of the east coast low and headed for Orchid. As luck would have it the conditions got better and better as Monday went on and we got further north up the island. Things went to plan and we started fishing Tuesday for 5 solid days fishing for ok results. RT's and tuskies going well, obligatory Spaniards, a good red and big snap plus a few other bits a pieces made up the week. Did a couple of days out on the south gardners, a big run well south, a day on the shoals and another in close. Got through about 700 litres for the week so plenty of ground covered. Came back down the beach on Sunday into the teeth of this southerly so a good week overall. The gutter running to the south from the lodge is working ok for half tide or better whilst there is a good lower tide option running out south from the corner at the rocks (awesome gutter) but hard work with some water in it. We used both. Beach is as flat and good for travel as I have ever seen it, tracks were getting softer by the time we came home. Sorry but no pics taken, not sure if there were any other ausfisho's up there last week, sorry not to chat if there were.
