My name is David, and am in Canberra... yeah, I know. Still, it is not too far from the beach, and the odd lake.

Like most newbies, I have been reading the forums for a while, joined up and then became financial - so its not a fad!

Did a bit of fishing back in the day, until I got sidetracked 20 odd years ago. Now I have a young son who is dead keen, so am dusting off what little gear I have managed to hang on to.

Bit of a culture shock looking around now with all the braid and soft plastics and stuff. Gonna have to start on the old cork handline again and work my way up

@noelm, very true. Grandparents had a place down there, so a bit familiar with it. Has changed rather a lot since then. And, as for chilly, yeah, not the warmest place getting around, but makes me appreciate the yearly Qld holiday
