Rod for 2lb straight fluro

Hi all,

I have a spare spool for my stradic 3000 and i am thinking of spooing up with 2lb Sunline Sniper for chasing bream on hard bodies. i am going to have to put this on my 6 foot Team Daiwa 1-3kg 1-5 gram rod to cast it...my longer rods are too heavy. Should this cast ok or be too butt heavy...i suspect too butt heavy. Does anyone know if i can pick up a spare spool that would fit a little Shimano Sedona 1000....dont know if it is possible to get aftermarket generic ones for example.

It should cast a matching lure (to that 2lb line) ok, distance wont be huge. Really light lures I prefer a 7 foot rod in glass composite.

What model Sedona? FD or FE?
If it's an FD, most spools from Siennas, Nexaves, AX or similar series should work fine. I use them as spares on many of my reels - (bought off fleabay), and lubed up with Quantum Hot Sauce, they're as good as you'll want.Failing locating spools, just buy a shimano AX 1000. If it's a new FE, then buying direct through Shimano is the cheaper option.
As Feral suggests, a 7ft rod is far better for distance with ultralites. I have a Silstar Tactical, 7ft, 1-3kg, which I rate very, very, highly. Cheap ($60), and lovely to use. Mine casts down to 2g heads or 3g h/b's.
I know that you'll be fishing from a yak, but the extra foot doesn't make a huge difference - only in casting.Another really nice stick is the Crucis Aegis 7 footer. My 7'8" model is my go-to rod for all my light work.

Thanks fellas. Its an FD. I might look for a cheap 7 foot or 7 foot plus glass rod for chucking the little hard bodies. Thanks for your advice gents.
