    Quickdraw with echomap 95sv

Hey, has anyone done the Garmin quickdraw up grade on a echomap95sv?

I have the update ready to go but am a bit concerned the echomap processor may struggle and my sounder/GPS may run slower/be less responsive and I don't believe you can go back once updated.

No dramas on 75SV. Got more than 2000 marks loaded on my unit and it does not bog it down whatsoever after mapping a river the other day. Saving it to an 8gb microsd card.

first thing is to go to this website
    http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ls.jsp?id=4749
    click download

it will download an .EXE file
when its finished downloading, insert into your computer "or via a card reader" a sd/micro sd card (has to ultimately become a micro SD)
double click on the exe file you just downloaded
it will open what looks like a early 2000s windows program. just follow the promps "it will automatically find the SD card inserted into your computer to install onto"

    let its do its thing

when its all done. remove the card

put the card in your 95sv's card slot
it will pop up with a window on your right
the top bar will say "update software"
    highlight that and press select

    and then wait

it will restart the unit. when it has rebooted. you can remove the SD card and BOOM

    QUICK DRAW BABY! !

    to get quickdraw you will.

Take the time to read the detailed release notes, there are some other things buried in there..

no one should blindly do software / firmware updates without knowing what it fixes and what it could potentially break..

    Re: Quickdraw with echomap 95sv

Well i tried that and both units wont update the firmware so all i can think is getting a new card to put the update on may work.. as the card i used is usually on a Mac Homeport, maybe a fresh card for the PC first time will do the trick

    Re: Quickdraw with echomap 95sv

Ok my 95sv has Quickdraw and I recorded some bottom mapping onto an Sd card today at Wivy... How do I view what I recorded? I thought it was instant view of what you were recording. All I got all day was a green shading in front of my boat symbol.. How do I get to see that shaded contours I have made in the settings...

    I'm totally lost, please help.

    Re: Quickdraw with echomap 95sv

How much memory on SD card's recommended if you do fair bit of charting? I've got an 8GB Class10 for my chart and data backup but not sure whether I should get another one dedicated to quickdraw. Thanks.

Hardly uses any memory for quick draw. Recording soundings on the other hand uses a fir bit.
