1770 bar passable depth at low tide currently?

Anyone have first hand knowledge of how shallow the creek is near the bar at the moment?

When we were up there in September last year, it was very shallow and in fact pretty well impassable in any decent sized boat on very low tides. Had to do it at least an hour or more before of after low to get out.

We are going up in a few weeks time so it would be good to get an idea of what to expect, the first day we are there Sunday 13/3 the tide is low at about 5:30am and 0.95m.

I can tell you mate that it is no better than when you were here last and in fact could be even shallower as there has been more dredging at the marina which is stirring up a lot of silt.
Remember to always log on before heading offshore.

Didn't have an issue with it last year. Crossed it on dead low a couple of times. Shallowest it got was 0.9m. Just stayed on the plane and all good. Even watched Keith in Giddyup attack it with no issues. Certainly wouldn't make me hesitate if I had a trip planned.

At the bottom of the low last year (sept), lowest was 400mm for quite a way, we idled through with the engine up and was no issue..

Moonlighter, bar is shallow but passable for trailer boats on dead low. Came through Aus day at 1600 hours with a dead low of .8 at 1623 very shallowbe sure of a clear run in or out so you don't have to come off plane or you'll be stuck in channel.

    Thanks Kemel and others.

When we were there last year there were some very low low tides, at times the sandbar was almost out of the water so there was no question about getting through at dead low.

It sounds about the same now, but with the low tides when we are going in March being a bit deeper and increasing as the week goes on, we should be right on all but the very bottom of the tide on the first day or two.

And let there be no mistake - there was never any doubt that a sandbar would prevent a trip to 1770, it was merely a case of whether we wait an hour or so either side of low tide to cross it!

Fingers crossed now for some decent weather!!
