looking for a short baitcaster rod....

Looking for a short baitcaster rod around 4ft maximum in length, 1-3kg. Has anyone seen one or know where to get one other than custom made?

Chasing bass in very tight timber where it's virtually impossible to flick a 6 foot rod around. Just to see if was feasible I bought a little four foot kids spin rod for $9 from anaconda and chucked my baitcaster reel on it just to see how it went, and surprisingly could still flick lures a fair distance. Was able to get casts in where with my usual rod I'd be hitting the trees around me...
worked so well if I can't find I can buy off the shelf somewhere, I will get one made.

I see well the best you will buy will be just over 5foot unless you get something built, ive done a fair bit of bassin in a canoe and use 5ft6' overheads or spinners to 6ft its all a matter of changing your casting style to get your lure in were you want it.

That pic you have posted is not what id call real tight thats were a spinner comes in to its own.

That pic is taken from outside the timber, I fish in amongst all those trees, believe me, it's tight.

Check out the Gladiator rods. About 4", Kayak guys have been using them for ages. Charlton's at Redbank were stocking them. http://www.gladiatortackle.com.au/products.php?id=646

Yeh seen them but they don't do a 1-3kg, id be all over it if they did.
I did however manage to successfully cut a 5'2" down to 3'7" turned out surprisingly good, and neat enough for my liking, will give it test on the bass this weekend...

If you ever want to go upmarket, check out Smith Ltd. B Area Fun rods. I have the bottom three rods in the top pic. They are a lot lighter than their ratings would indicate.

Re: looking for a short baitcaster rod....

Im guessing you have one Steven?
I may consider one of this one ends up being an involuntary 2 piece model.
How does it go flicking light lures? I mostly use light surface lures like scumdogs and they're down around the 2.5gram mark so need quite a whippy rod to flick em... That's the main reason I want to stay around the 1-3kg rating...

From someone who owns both, if you want very light, go for the Smith.
