Out from South Passage Bar - the grand plan :)

    Gday,
Have been planning a trip out from SPB on Sunday/Monday and looking into where and when to go.
Looks to be a smooth enough day, with wind maybe swinging around on Monday.

    29's, 33's and 35's reefs seem like a good start I guess!...
Some earlier threads were mentioning that other reefs around the top of Moreton were good at sunrise, then through the day, deeper reefs were still OK, is there any similar pattern off SPB?

What are the currents like out there?, thinking of whether to gear up for more bashing or floating.

Any other recommendations on things to look into or try out would be much appreciated!

    Seppo

As suggested I would be waiting till Monday then heading north floating the 29's early as said but try the deep stuff 90-100 for the better fish

Thanks for the replies! Rob, Jsm..

Have been checking out how the swell is doing on Sunday - Monday is looking nicer for sure

Is anyone else heading out over the break?
Looking forward to getting out there to check it out!

the other thing you could do is go and float the cathedrals they have been producing good fish floating the ground
47-55m if you are after a full bag anyway

It was an good trip!, minus fish this time tho -- Went out on Monday first light and found nothing !!, doh- Found 35fm reefs, had a troll around, and saw not much on the finder.
Even the charter guys seemed to be struggling to find/catch anything, hearing them pop up on the radio... "how's going"... "pretty slow"...

Went back and messed around on the bar, in-out through all the channels for a while - that was good experience!
Had been out with Bill a week earlier, and it was really good to get out there again and consolidate a little.
It was quite tricky picking out the middle channel, but the others were good.

Just wondering if sand floating through the water wears out the impeller much-- There was a ripping outgoing tide kicking up a plume of sand off the floor, going through it a lot can't be good??

Had a fish around harries and caught an undersize snapper who went back. Was a fun trip, still learning !!
Next time to check out the cathedrals - or- go out from the seaway and get to reefs quicker and explore more.
