    Ausfish Annual Agnes Water / 1770 M & G Reports

Just thought I would get this thread up and running as the time is nearly here for about 50 members to hit this little township for a week or more.

Despite having already had a few days offshore, this initial post will be about the bar crossing.

As eluded to in other threads, the channel between the last Red and the bar ( Green ) is bloody shallow.

It is advised to cross the bar at at least half tide up and if you can't, be extra careful.

I will attempt to post up photos of the area at low tide, but for now, here are some photos from today. One hour before high tide. NE wind.

2 members are already offshore and hopefully returning tomorrow arvo with a good report. I am also heading out tomorrow.

also added a pic of some of my catch from last week and a shot of the bar heading out.

    cheers LP

I agree with Phill. We were there last week and on the low-low tides near the full moon, it was ankle deep across there. 2 hours before or after the tide to be safe.

If the low tides are higher then maybe you can scrape through an hour either side. But it is indeed very very shallow. So do be careful.
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

When I headed out last week it was incredibly shallow.... I was at full noise to get my boat out of the water as much as possible while at the same time trying to go around a guy who was taking it easy (nothing wrong with that) so might pay if someone's in front of you to sit back a little longer than normal and watch their line before screaming out....

I will just get the horse and grazz to sit up on the bow that should get my prop high enough

I figure that with all you lot up there, if the weather comes good and I come up, there should be a nice little channel by the time I get there.

    Quick report.

Had a couple of deckies turn up Monday night and we hit the water running first light Tuesday. Returned at sundown .

A reasonable day. It was a Whale-A-Thon out passed Boult Reef. Also plenty of flying fish, dolphins, turtles, Manta Rays and a big ass Tiger somewhere between 3.5 and 4 mtrs. We did have a good indication of the size.

Fishing was slow, but we put a good bag together with Coral Trout, Coral Cod, RTE, Maori Cod, Red Emperor, Spanish Mackerel, Hussar etc. My Red went 6.2kgs and the Spanish 13.5kgs.

Looks like it's going to blow for a few days, so time for R & R. Some pics below for your entertainment.

    Cheers LP

Thanks for sharing, looks like some terrible conditions.

Not sure how long since I have been there, is that a pontoon at the ramp in one of LP's photos there?
