Just thought I’d put a quick report up on a recent trip I did to Iluka with the guys and girls of a small fishing club I am involved with. We headed down form Brisbane in a convoy of 5 4WD’s towing boats and two other support vehicles on the 13th of June and spent a week fishing outside (mainly around Woody Head) in the Clarence and on many of the rock walls around the area.
Most of the fish in the pics bellow were caught over the course of the week off Woody Head buy the guys and girls who got outside, the Clarence didn’t fish as well as the land based guys would have liked but there was plenty of catch and release to be had along with exploring and experimenting looking for new land based spots. The Northern Break wall at the bar produced some nice Tailor throughout the week though.
This is the second year we have ventured down to this peaceful little town and we are starting to work out where and how to fish it so the rewards are coming in as you can see, can’t wait till next year’s trip as hopefully it will only get better.
Oh yeah and we had a blast at Sedgers Reef on the Wednesday night watching the second State of Origin in cockroach territory, the locals were surprisingly accommodating to a bunch of maroon supporters dressed up in all the gear, plenty of friendly banter to be had but we sure copped it when we didn’t win.
