    Two cracking posts Ben. Are you able to expand a little further into why the aquaculture was a bad idea to begin with? At the moment most of us would be ignorant on this one so some expert insight would be really interesting.
    Democracy: Simply a system that allows the 51% to steal from the other 49%.

    Its just that the myxosporean would have likely made most/all the kingies mushy, which would lower their value and kill off the bottom line, as well as the usual parasite issues you get on confined kingfish and snapper, which at these higher water temperatures would mean very regular (monthly or bimonthly) parasite management work (bathing the fish). The extra handling involved is stressful and its also costly, again affecting the bottom line. Finally, the bay is already adversely affected by excess nutrients, and fish farms would put even more nutrients in, although the relative effect of the farms re: nutrients would be minimal compared to the sewage and urban/agricultural runoff. All in all, with those factors to consider, IMHO it would be marginal at best - highly unlikely you would ever get any invested money back.........
