Bowdidge marine design - Sea strike 16

Thought I might share my build with those who are interested.
I'm building a sea strike 16 by Mark Bowdidge marine design.
I'm pretty impressed with the specs on this boat and am looking forward to a few Sunday's building and having a few beers at the same time.
It's plywood & fibreglass composite, and it exceeds level floatation.
Will make a nice addition to the boat library

Thinking that one of their boats might be a good job to keep me busy when i pull the pin from work.

Have you got any experience working with fibreglass before starting this project?
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

Nice choice Al. I recently built the Edge Tracker 426 and it is a great little boat.
Moonlighter, I had no previous experience with glassing before I started and ended up with a pretty good result.

Yep, followed your thread and saw what a great boat you produced, a real credit to you and the designers. Must arrange to have a look at it sometime if thats OK.

Plenty of experience working with wood but none with fibreglass. I have a mate who lives up the road and used to build big fibreglass boats on the Goldy (i.e. not chop strand moulds). I may lean on him otherwise Mark Bowdidge (the designer) and the technical dude from APL (West system supplier) have already been extremely helpful with their knowledge.

    Would love to but, no.

I fish with the PBA club, we go up in October, and im also going up in a week's time as well.

So 3 x 1770 trips in a year would be pushing my luck with the Admiral!

Might have to try to catch up some other time.

    Just a quick update.
Hull is mostly together with just the shear planks to install and then glue.
Otherwise all panels are glued and stitches removed. Also mostly sanded in prep for fibreglassing.

How many actual work hours have you put in so far to get it to this point? I would love to build a tropic 14 at some stage and then move on to something bigger!
