Report From Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Hey folks. Been travelling around the world for the past 8 months and have ended up in Puerto Escondido on the South West Coast of Mexico. There's some great offshore and land based fishing here, as well as monster waves, so I thought I'd share some photo's. Most the offshore fishing is based around Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Roosterfish and Mackerel. From the beach and rocks you can catch Sierra (Spotties) and Travelly in the 5-7kg mark or you can spearfish around the rocks. The boats are very basic and not reliant on electronics or fancy gear, just ol school rods n reels and local knowhow. Bait is bought fresh off the beach from local fisherman in the morning and are rigged with skirted lures. I've been out a few times now with mixed results but every trip has produced quality fish. There's also a very healthy population of dolphins who love to entertain. A pod the size of a football field is not uncommon to come across whilst trolling.
