Anyone know how or why this might have happened?

Six people have been rescued from an upturned boat in Moreton Bay, off Brisbane.
It is understood six people were travelling in the boat when it capsized about two nautical miles south of Green Island about 2.15pm on Thursday.
Water Police arrived at the scene to find three people in an inflatable life raft and three people standing on the hull of the upturned boat.

Could be a combination of a broaching mono with inadequate skipper.

I had to Google what is broaching, what an eye-opener, I always thought surfing the waves in was a great way to get home faster especially in a underpowered tinny, its a shame they never mentioned a thing about it when I did my boat license.

Could of been a rogue wave and they hit it wrong.

Interesting it has a life raft, was it a commercial boat?

That's one explanation. The other is it's a police vessel - hence the raft and overall design of the cab. Just wondering??

Apparently a NZ built survey vessel on a water test. That is the after shot with the cops taking it away for investigation. I wonder if the boat weighs less than 3.5t?

Was certainly built for functionality not looks. Maybe it saw itself in a mirror out there and rolled over itself. Or Keiths theory is right. It's the only two things it could be. All in jest of course, someone's hurting with what happened to their new rig.

South of green island...instead of deploying the lift raft they should of just tread water until low tide and walked home.

    its a broacher!!
