Cheers Gary. I had seen photos of John's boat but was a bit hard to tell with the "shiny" side down so to speak.

That would have to be the most solid looking winch post I have ever seen on a trailer.

I recon a combination of top heavy as it does not look light and some show boating or broaching became a very regretful day for the skipper I'm sure

Was thinking the same. Little bit of chop, "look how good it handles" and "Huh, fancy that. Not the way I saw it happening". Only thing for sure is that someone will cop the wrong end of the pineapple somewhere.

6 people 500 odd kg is a bit of weight to shift too a side if it was a broacher ... there looks like there was a bit of sea in the second pic

    Scotty,

maybe the autopilot did the old exit stage left. Remember that broaching AMM I had mate?

i was out at Peel Thursday morning came in about 0930 winds about 10 gusting to 15. nothing a boat that size shouldn't be able to handle. we were in a 4.5m tinnie and a little bit of spray that's all. maybe too much yamahardness for the hull! would have been fine if he had etecs!
what happens if the props aren't counter rotating, just a thought

Yup. The one that used to bend the trim tabs. If it is a new rig as I suspect it is mate it could have been anything. I have heard of all sorts. Know of an Allison that the fuel tank wasn't secured in. First decent wave it shifted and sheared the through hull fittings for the pumps clean off. It didn't lie down for a rest like this one has but demonstrates my point. Until someone does a full investigation and looks at stability and so forth we are all just guessing. Like I said - only thing for sure is that someone - not neccessarily the loose nut behind the wheel - is getting that pineapple.
