DNS attacks on server, site may be non responsive

Have been experiencing some DNS, Denial of Service, attacks on the server yesterday and today. We are working to block these but it is not always easy to do.

appologies if any inconvenience has been caused.

Some IP addressses that have been auto blocked may need to be unblocked. Have unblocked quite a few but most likely need to do more

Your work ISP is GCCC 203.*.*.* and is not on the block list. I guess you are with Testra at home, IP address 101.*.*.* ?

Can you PM me your IP address, do not post it here :-)

I have been pulling my hair out trying to work out why I couldn't access ausfish but other websites were fine. I rebooted the router, changed the settings but nothing worked - glad to know it is all sorted

similar problem for me, I can get on from work fine, at home on the ipad, nothing.... but because of where I work it seemed pretty obvious something was amiss.

Have just done a pile of work on teh issue, glad to hear it worked. A bit hard to test as I am in Vietnam and do not obviously have an Australian IP address. Looks like Telstra 101 IP range was blocked due to the attack. So all should be fine now. We hope :-)

I've been blocked for a few days and today I tried a proxy (hidemyass) and managed to access the site.
Logged in and right clicked on the link to this thread to open a new window & it took me to a 2006 thread about Remoras??? WTF?

Gave myself an uppercut & ran ccleaner, everything came straight back to normal.

    DNS cache poisoning?

I should add I couldn't even get a result running tracert.

Re your post #9 Steve, due to the timing my ccleaner success may have really been in the timing of your telstra success.

Yes, some may need to clear their Cache

BCPs for running a DNS server, you need to have two that don't point to the same IP! ausfish.com.au does have 2 DNS servers, but they have the same ip...
