Thread: Upgrading the Collie

    Upgrading the Collie

Next week sees the upgrade that was coming for a while.

With 52,000k's on her since new in July 2013, the suspension is sagging ( as expected ).

    A new set of Silver Sunraisers with 20p offset ( 16 x 8's )

    Some Maxxis AT980's 245 x 75 x 16's

and to make it work, a full EFS ( medium duty ) suspension kit ( springs, shockes etc )

I will post up some before and after pics soon and let you know who it all works and feels.

I will be in the workshop, On Track 4WD, to watch it all happen. Should raise the vehicle by about 60mm - 70mm from where it is now.

    stay tuned.... LP

    Re: Upgrading the Collie

    Hey Phill
I wonder how those Maxxis AT980 will go, they look a lot like the BFgs i used to have which weren't that great in the wet especially after a few klms, the other Maxxis 751 i had where great i found after having the BFGs with that pattern on, not as good in the gravel but better on road and sand

    Re: Upgrading the Collie

Yeah Mike, Brett ( owner On Track ) has these on his Patrol and says they are quiet, which was one of my specs. The tread pattern looks aggresive and will work well offroad. Sand.... we'll see. The tread is also deep, compared to the 751's. I had 751's on the Nissan and they were good.

    Re: Upgrading the Collie

I recently did a 2'' lift on the 200 series and went with EFS.........So far so good only done a couple of thousand with them but no complaints.......I usually go Bilstein but at the price they wanted and not to mention the 3 month wait for them i'm sort of happy I went the EFS in the end any way.........Those maxxis look good Phil.....I wanted a set for the cruiser but they are not available in 285 70 17 yet so went Wranglers Silent Armour.

    Re: Upgrading the Collie

I suppose now I have to tell you I have some tyres for sale / swap. 5 all up.

They are as in the pics below.

One is new/ never used spare, the others are still quite legal and I reckon there is at least 2mm of tread left above the wear bars.

    The wheels are steel original Colorado 7 x 16's. Tyres are Bridgestone Dueller H/T's 245 x 70 x 16.

I suspect anyone needing good tyres for a trailer should seriously look at these.

If you want to make a reasonable offer, send me a pm....

    cheers LP
