    Pumicestone Passage tips

    Hi all

the In laws are arriving from Argentina tonight and keen to have a fish.

I have a boat and am thinking of heading to Pumicestone Passage.

Are there whiting about? Or safer to chase Flatties?

Would you suggest heading up the passage or out to Red Beach?

so many options, any advice or ideas will be much appreciated!

Plenty of flattys around mate at this time of year. My last 5 trips have resulted in 8,10,10,8,6 flat ones caught (all in about 2 hrs of fishing each time). Soft plastics, light line and jigheads. I reckon curl tail SP's are best or perhaps Gulp minnows in Smelt. Target weed beds and drop offs. Cant go wrong at the moment.

*Note. I am at the nothern end of the passage but Mullet Musketeer is getting plenty down the southern end too.

Thanks Funchy. SPs on the flats is always fun.

sounds like you've been doing well!

Is it worth chucking a bait over for whiting in the passage at the moment as well?

I've never eaten a whiting and want to try it out

Yeah sure is. Yabbies or worms are your best bet. Anchor up near a yabby/weed bed. Throw a whiting rig out the back and flick placcys off the front

Bit hit and miss too. We dug worms yesterday and fished the middle of the Passage for whiting. Very slow with only a few keepers landed.
