    Baby Boomer G-Urushi

    Hi Guys,

I built this for a customer at Batemans Bay who liked the rods I did for the game fishing club back in January. He wanted colours like in the Jimmy Barnes rod but I try to not do anything the same as what I've done before. It keeps things original and most customers appreciate having something unique. Anyway this is what I came up with. I also came to the conclusion that, IMHO, you must have either black or white in there somewhere to provide the contrast. I know it's just personal but that's what I believe. It's just like in threadwork - you need contrast.

    Regards to all

    Top job Mark, looks amazing.
How do you do it, I've never seen it before, is there a step by step guide some where?

    Thanks everyone who commented.
Russ there are no tricks with these but they do take a heap of time. Do a search for "G-Urushi". There will be a few results come up but probably the best one to give you an idea would be "Satocustomrods" on instagram by Brent Ikari. IMHO he does THE best G-Urushi out there.

Thanks Mark, I just googled it, yes it is pretty simple but a long process, I will try it on a split grip surf rod I have made, I didn't know what to do at the but end. All good.
I will post it when complete.

    thanks again.
