They work if added to a bait mesh holder or bag. I have not found them a good as frames

they go alright but you need the gutter guard type of bait bag...they are prob the best bait for spannercrabs

Gave them a go last time out as I was running low on mullet (brought 3 mullet for 4 pots!) and packed them into a mesh bag and ziptied it closed.
That pot caught as many as the other pots with the mullet in, just don't be shy with them.

Yep last time out used pillies and worked just fine.

Cut em up so the oil can seep out and leave a trail.

this is what ive made my bags out of and stitched together with 80lb line.

Need to be in hard mesh if you want to last any time. Also they are an expensive option. Mullet are cheap and will do the job, otherwise catties work well for muddies.

I mush old Pillies up with a potato masher and then roll them up in baking paper and freeze them (think Pillie Sausages). Take them out pop in the bait basket and they last around 2 hrs at 24 degrees.

Always get crabs on them...if you have old prawns etc then same thing goes

Would putting them in old stockings before the mesh bait bags make them last longer?
