Had my first ever trip to the Rous Channel yesterday. Left Raby Bay at 5.30am little lumpy on the trip out but glassed out by 7am.

The rous and surrounds were alive with dolphins, dugong, turtles, even a sea snake made a brief appearance.

The fishing was a little slow but about 10 am a weak NE change blew in and fish came on the bite for about an hour nearing the top 1/4 of the tide.

Had a brief encounter with something that took a whiting on the way up only to leave the head attached.

All in all a great morning back to the ramp with about 100 jet skis by midday. With a good feed of quality whiting. Considering holidays not a lot of boats out and a great morning in beautiful weather.
