Anyone got access to NearMap (or something like it) ???

    Hi all,

Stupid me didn't take advantage of the NearMap software when it was free to use and keep a couple of their excellent aerial images of the Northern part of Moreton Bay.

You'll notice that the Google images don't cover most of that area.

Was kinda hoping someone out there either kept an image or two, or has access to them via their business or the like, and wouldn't mind sharing.

If you can help me I'd appreciate a PM.

    Cheers, Steve

    G'day mate,

It use to be a free subscription for private individuals which I had taken the offer up....After that, one now has to pay big dollars for an annual subscription, cant afford it so I never bothered with it.

There was no free software that I was aware of otherwise I would have received it.

Nearmaps is sometimes better than GoogleMaps to some degree in certain circumstances.

I too would be looking for a share of nearmaps if someone can offer.

    Cheers, Bondy

Near maps had a fantastic feature... not only were they more detail but you could go back in time... they had multiple images of an area and you could choose from a timeline.

Great for general interest or even better for looking at sandbank shifting.

I was most disappointed they choose to go they 'fewer high paying customers' route.

Be interesting to see how well nearmaps is doing compared to when it was free and sold ad space instead..

Google earth has the same timeline but not the detail of upper northern bay..

Make sure you use google earth not google maps.

The local councils are usually a subscriber as they integrate it into the ( GIS) Geographical Info system and they now do it by area no the whole database I understand. . Know anyone at council ? Perhaps the local VMR could speak to the council and put up a image each time nearmap do a flyover?

Use Google Earth and select the imagery date you want to use.
In the top menu - 7th icon along (clock with an arrow) - is a historical imagery slider - select the image that best suites you.

How far north do you want?
As you can see it's a bit choppy and not stuck together too good.

Mate, picture a rectangle where the bottom left corner is woody point, and top right is combi - that's about it.

The detail in the bar pic is what I'm chasing too.

Google Earth was no good for what I needed, I used Nearmaps to provide me aerial photos of council works in relation to a pontoon disappearing at that time. Nearmaps provided me with the evidence I needed.

    Go Nearmaps
