Spiderpig,i owned a 76 series 2010 model for 3 years.
I towed a boat just under 3500kg & did it with ease...they are a bit soft in the rear although I didn't upgrade suspension I just used hayman reese distribution hitch which definantly helped.
From memory it sucked around 27-28 per 100klm whilst towing...very short 1st & 2nd gear ..never used 1st unless towing..& used to drive me nuts travelling over 80klm ,found it very noisy (not tire noise)it was a gxl.
The missus hated it & always said it was uncomfortable although didn't bother me.I actually own a 2004 6cylinder turbo diesel cruiser ute with 260000klm on it & I much prefer that over the v8 cruiser..except when it comes to towing power the v8 kills it.
Mate I would own another cruiser but not the short wheel base wagon...probably get the dual cab or ute as I hated trying to fit gear into the wagon...7ft -8ft rods would touch the front windscreen
Didn't suit me anyway...obviously suits others though
