Funny all this talk is going around about being able to tow 3t. here's food for thought - how many utes on this list are capable of doing it all day everyday? I own a MN triton glxr 2.5 td and the new 79 series v8 cruiser. Apparently the triton is good for 2.75 t with style side- having said this i have tried this weight but I would not expect the car to last -I expect this can be applied to all other cars on this list -capable, but will not last.
Now the cruiser- thats a different story- I was doing a 5th gear pull with a certified 3.5t boat up the gateway. Enough said.
Mine does (3.5 t) - pretty easily too.
How about you promise to keep lugging your certified 3.5t up the gateway in 5th (at 80 kph.........) with the tojo every day and we'll check back in about 20 days and see who's lasts. You might want to check the glovebox for a towing hint from Mr Unbreakable.

I'll tell the mines that they have their choice of vehicle all wrong. I have forwarded your attached picture accordingly- Talk about taking a comment all wrong, chill mate.
Soo, what is your point then? I'm supposed to chill why? I'm not upset. You'll no doubt be upset to find out that it's the mines that have killed to 70 - not because it's a bad ute, just that you die in them when you bump into things. I'm quite confident that if I missed any point it was simply due to your inability to convey one? Chill mate.......

Let me say that I would like to see a crash test of utes fully loaded as having seen some wrecks in the yards they ones with weight on and trailers are a bloody mess. Toyota chassis looks better on a few nasty ones but not sure that means the occupants survive and many have secondary hits and rolls so not sure about just a single airbag event either. Every accident is different but having a look at a few wrecks sure makes you think about the way your boxes are bolted down and just what speed you want to travel fully loaded.
from what I have heard the latest tray back dual cab colados are so guttles its not funny. also navaras have a massive tendency to crack heads and snap timing chains
I don't like the Colorados, but how can 147kw and 500nM of torque be gutless? Every review I can find says it is grunty as.
And the comments on the Navara - what utter BS!
Cracked heads have been very rare and generally in limited to pre-07 motors. Every manufacturer will have a number of failed engines given the volumes they produce. Whilst there are a number of people reporting snapped timing chains, which in turn destroys the engine, almost every single one was the result of improper servicing or a lack of servicing at the 10,000km intervals. Again, there will be a percentage that have issues - there could have been a bad batch of chains from the chain manufacturer.
You can't blame a manufacturer for a slack/tight-arsed customer or a crap mechanic, with the dealers generally being the worst of them. I stopped using dealers for servicing when I would regularly get the vehicle back with the service report saying they had done all this stuff, but when I checked those locations, there is no evidence of anyone actually touching it - that is just plain fraud.
Everyone I know of that owns a Navara has nothing but praise for them.
Ben.
I have a 2013 Collie, but in the space cab. Traded up from the 2009 model dual cab.
This new vehicle is far superior to the previous one. Power and Torque are supurb. Ride is very good, but losing a bit of leaf spring tension now ( 30,000k's ).
Torque example...... 4th gear.... 80kph. Bottom of Gateway Bridge. gets to 85 and a bit by the top..... towing 2 ton of boat.
Power example.......... 5th gear 95kph..... overtaking lane....... before you can say " Oh what a feeling ", I have passed a B double and looking shocked at the speed attained by this fiesty 'lil 4 x 4.
I have had no issues, but I have installed an aftermarket fuel filter system. It is a water trap and 2 micron fuel filter, as the Common rail diesels do not like dirty fuel or water. The new Collies come with 2 x 10 micron fuel filters, which sounds like good protection.
If you want to hear how gutless the Collies are, don't talk to me........ they rock
3.5 ton tow. 1.07 payload....... 130kw and 400nm... all from a 2.8 commonrail diesel. And if you are good enough and under the right conditions....... there is no " lag ".
cheers

At least you got 30000 out of your springs LP, the ford ones were great right up until I started putting gear in the back 10 minutes after I got it....

Mudcrab3, Have you ever driven a 2.8 l Collorado????????????
You may get a bit of a shock at the power they can deliver.
I do a lot of travelling towing a van with all the gear, full size tray o/b motor, tinnie on top two fridges, 50 l of fuel and usually enough water and tucker to last two weeks.
Van weighs 1.8 tonnes over the Weigh bridge and the tillie something over
2.6 tonnes. loaded.
On a recent trip to Monto region averaged 13.9 l.p.hundred. and does 107 k.p.h. up a good hill in fourth gear. A bit frightening and over my usual towing speed.
My old 80 series would be flat in second or third and doing 80 k.p.h. max.
I think you got your info from some one who just doesn't like Collorados.
So be it, other vehicles have problems too, crook clutches, springs, gear boxes, chassis.
Most parts for modern cars are made anywhere, by anybody in any country so there will be problems with quality and durability.
I made my choice of purchase on facts not hearsay.
Have fun Haji-Baba
