    Rod Dryer Electric Motor

    Hi Guys

    I need a new dryer motor 220V 50/60Hz 3.8W >36 RPM
To buy it thought a tackle shop is $70
Is there a local company that sells this type of elect motor?

You could try The RodWorks or Mudhole.

Mine is a turntable motor out of an old microwave - works great - just a thought. Cheers, Steve

How urgent is it? I want to place an order with Mudhole before the end of the year and can tag a motor on if you like. Are you sure you want that fast?

The electric motor from a microwave RPM is very slow.
Mate with your order from Mudhole I will keep you in mind

Ken, I've made many rods with my setup - obviously I don't know what you're used to, but my rig works very well. Of course, you can't bind at that speed, but for levelling epoxy it's great. Just sayin Steve

    Re: Rod Dryer Electric Motor

Use a windscreen wiper motor and now the trick that makes it versatile is to fit a PWM ( pulse wave modulation) dc motor controller, you can get them here:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-15A-D...item41603cea01

and that gives you is infinite variable speed control so you can get it just right (44 rpm to 0 rpm), power it through a small 12V battery and have a battery charger connected and you won't flatten the battery, or cook the motor.
It will draw about 2.5-3.5 amps and windscreen wiper motors will go forever. No trouble with replacement if it doesn't. A simple foot switch adds instant stop/start.
    Hope this helps.

Think I got my last one of ebay for about $30....wasn't a 36rpm..but you can find almost any rev range

    Re: Rod Dryer Electric Motor

Hi guys well installed my microwave motor OH God it is terribly slow. I have been looking on eBay and there are some there mainly from Hong Kong.
I still need a faster motor as the microwave only rotated at 5RPM
