    How good was today ( 11/8/13 )

For those of us lucky enough to live in Queensland, how was the weather today. ??

25 degress............ full sun and no wind to speak of.

I was also lucky enough to spend most of the day on the water with fellow Ausfisher, 2IC in his 7.2 Riptide...... " Beer a Cuda ".

Bill and I pestered the hell out the beacons from E4 north to the M5 with our bait jigs looking to stock up for the 1770 M & G. We managed a few Yakka, Slimies and Pike, but in general, the fishes were not co-operating .

Water was clear and running at about 18 degrees. The beers at Tangas were also cold and lunch was fish'n'chips and burgers. Other delightful things were surrounding us at the beach, which made it hard to leave.

Heard a lot of chatter on the VHF from other Ausfishers.

Was just a great day to be out in the beautiful waters of Moreton Bay seeing whales as well.

Thanks to Bill for the trip that was totally hassle free.

    cheers LP

It was a cracker of a day Phill,I had the day out with the family (not in the boat) and drooled at the ocean from Point Danger,I don't get the prop back for my Cruisecraft till Wednesday anyway.I was going to jig some slimies off Tweed, heaps there a few days ago.Pulled up the jig and had one on every hook in 2 drops !.I was going to get some for 1770, and use the new vacuum sealer I bought the missus.

If you chasing slimies and yakkas, my recommendation would be for the 24's off the pin
Crap loads (apparently to say 5h!t is offensive) there yesterday, and bagged out on snapper with a few nice pearlies thrown in on the 36's
Nothing outrageous, but majority in the high 50cm range

had some video footage of madmackerel and his best catch (a yakka) but video not uploading properly, so just try to picture the big fella struggling with a yakka on.

also caught up with rakinray, sandman and webby at the baitgrounds in the morning and horse at the same place in the arv. all in all a top day on the water.

Sure was a fantastic day and a great day to test my new Rig in offshore conditions heard heaps of chatter burned through 100lts of fuel caught nothing but undersize fish. Found some new ground which I have marked and will visit at a later date. Not a lot of fishing got done anyway just more driving and moving around sounding for new areas did 148ks for the day. Stopped at the Captian Nelson for a quick session on the way in. There was huge amounts of fish that were not biting anything we were throwing at them. There was a bloke in a seafarer fishing next to us a good size whale come up next to him and decided to say hi he was getting some good footage of it when next thing it went under the boat and found the anchor rope and got caught up in it . Next thing off he went with this whale dragging him thrashing around trying to untangle itself jump out of the water rolling and so on. I gotta say this bloke did not know what to do at the start but lucky for him he had a quick release anchor and managed to set it loose the whale then came towards us hanging off the front of my boat and was coming around the driver side we wound all the lines in and waited to see what it would do. Luckily it went in the opposite direction The guy came over to us to see if we filmed anything I said no but I offered him a spare set of undies though haha. It was a great trip back and was hard to put the boat back on the trailer the day was so good. My new rig ran great and I have to say I am one very happy chappy.

    Cheers Mick.
