What is xte on lowrance gps/sounder

Hi, I have a Lowrance elite 5 gps/sounder, on the compass page there is a readout title XTE. Can anyone tell me what this is? I have done a search and didn't find any answers.

Yep.

In plain English... say you have set a 'GoTo' to a waypoint and the GPS shows you the straight line course between where your boat is to where the waypoint is. If your boat veers off this course by say 100m, then you have 100m of XTE.

If there is a button that says 'Reset XTE' or similar, and you push it, it will reset the start of the 'GoTo route' to where your boat currently is, and thus eliminate any XTE.
