used 4x4 hilux any problem models?

Hi guys,
looking at upgrading my 2002 2 door 2.7L petrol 4x4 hilux to something newer and betterer

looking at spending around 20-25k with trade in of above mentioned.
do like the cruisers but they are too high for loading and unloading planks and gear for work, plus there a bit out of the budget
so, replacement 4x4 hilux must have:

4 doors (full size seats)
towbar, bull bar
5spd manual
turbo diesel / or petrol ?
need full size tray if possible?? (is this an option with a four door?)
just started researching now so have a bit to look at yet

but to get started my main question is, is there any specific year/models that have had a significant enough of a problem to stay away from? heard of clutches being a problem in some models?

Seems all the new diesels are great enigines but the new exhaust emission controls and piss poor diesel fuel quality in Aus, severely shortens the lifespan of the motor.
4.0 V6 petrol has nothing but rave reviews especially in auto, and economy wise pretty much equals out with diesels considering their service/repairs/intervals costs.
