Where's the best places in mackay to go fishing?

For those people in Mackay,Where is the best places to go to do some land based fishing?My partner plays basketball tomorrow in mackay so thinking about taking the rods and seeing what we can do?

The V on the east side of the river also try under the Ron KAmm bridge and the pipeline just north of the Ron Kamm. The break water at the harbour also has good fishing at times. Hope you have something better than bream gear or you are likely to get smoked

Vines Creek/Basset Basin is a great spot. Head down about 4 hours after high tide, dig yabbies, fish the run out tide whilst walking the sand banks. Great for whiting and flatties. Plenty of territory to cover here.

Thanks for the replies..We didn't get to mackay last weekend but will be going down this sunday..Can't wait and yes we have big gear lol
