    Winch Servicing

    G'day

On my new truck, came a Tigerz11 1000lb winch with the spectra tucked unto the TJM steel bar.

Under no load whatsoever (winding the spectra back in attached to nothing) all of the cables to and from the winch are getting very very hot.

My thoughts are that there is way too much load on the winch motor internally, due to corrosion or lack of grease etc.

    Comments?

And to remove the winch is a total pita, as the whole bullbar must be removed.

What size is the wire that is getting hot?

    Re: Winch Servicing

Same size as the cables that supply the starter motor from battery for example.

I think you'll find the winch drives against the brake, hence the load?
