Thread: Non slip gunnels

    Non slip gunnels

Been thinking about putting some non slip on the gunnels to stop scratching it up with eskys and avoid clumsy boarding slips.

Fibreglass 5.75 metre with maybe 6? inch gunnels.

    Anyone done similar?

Look up seadek, can be cut to size. expensive but removable if needed.

Clark rubber have this stuff called pyramid mat. It gets used on the front of caravans to stop stone chips, comes in all different colours. Not self adhesive.
On mine, not so much for protection but non skid side of things i used what they used on skateboard decks... sticks like shit to a blanket and under wet feet you just wont slip. It comes in a roll 200 or 300 wide and buy it by the metre. the only colour ive seen it in is black.

Thanks guys. I was hoping to find something that looks like teak decking or similar.

I often sit on the gunnel and the seadek or the skateboard are not ideal for that I think.

But either would do if I don't find anything that suits me more. Thanks for the suggestions.

So much depends on what shoes you wear as to what grip you end up with and if you want soft spongy stuff or grit tape.

3m do a clear stickback tape in various widths , marine grade . The old one was removable.

Pj bowers do a soft grippy one as well - used this on a inflatable and it was good for the year we owned it. This one is different that it looks thicker? Ask em what they have.

This is top gear - can buy thinner roll and use 2 strips so you don't have wastage or leftovers.

    Re: Non slip gunnels

Hey mate I have this stuff on my gunnels and slide a 200l esky over them every time I go out. Great stuff I have the 100mm wide roll. It's great and hard wearing. Not sure If comes any wider. It is about $100 for a ten metre roll but well worth IMO.

    Cheers JB
