My problem with transom mount tranducers is they tend to "kick up" ( as they are supposed to prevent damage) when I come off the back of a wave. I have a Haines 680 walkaround and the tranducer is almost impossible to get at to reset when at sea due to the pod sticking out past the hull line. I am assuming the Dragonfly tranducer also has a kick up facility.

    Paul,
They absolutely do have the kickup bracket. If they keep clicking up initially it wears out the nylon bracket, and then becomes a pain in the a**.

I have a 650 Haines Hunter Horizon with a bigger Raymarine system and opted for an in hull. Works a treat.
Unfortunately, the Dragonfly are transom mount only.

They have a lock down on the transducer also.
I can confirm this as I screwed mine down today. A nice alloy hex head screw down.

Seems to be a lot of people not happy with the DF because no through Hull option.
Im going to say, what I think Raymarine are mostly likely aiming for, is that this unit is for smaller craft that dont usually have through hull
capabilities. Maybe there A-65 Unit is for bigger boats.

Saying that Ive never had a through hull transducer even on my 23ft or 26ft. Both read fine and neither kicked up or produced spray.
I think its more about how well and accruratly (height) its mounted.

    Just my thoughts and experiences.

    Re: DRAGONFLY by Raymarine!!!!!!

I saw one on friday and the raymarine rep was in the store, seems that at that stage there were only 30 units in Australia, pretty slim pickings if not preordered.

    Re: DRAGONFLY by Raymarine!!!!!!

I was reading on a NZ forum and they were saying that in tight channels the "boat symbol" is way to big, and was taking up the channel so you could not see the navigation markers. The symbol looks sizable in your post Ausgradi . Can you make it smaller?

To be honest I havent really looked into it F111.
But I will this week and let you know.

Prob something they can fix with a software update at some stage.

    Re: DRAGONFLY by Raymarine!!!!!!

    Hi there
Just fitted a Dragonfly to my 4.2 poly challenger.
Yet to water test it but looking forward to it --
A quick question re tranducer mounting.
I mounted the tranducer as per instructions -- all good.
However the tranducer has some movement between itself and the mounting/backing plate. I have the kick up adjustment tight and the swivel locking nut tight. Has anyone else fitted one and noticed this freeplay.
    Best
    Paul

    Re: DRAGONFLY by Raymarine!!!!!!

So how have these things gone in the 60m plus. I'm in the market and the dragonfly is an option. Some honest feedback would be great.

    Thanks
