    37kg Bent butt

    Hi all,

With the blue marlin season just around the corner here on the east coast I thought it was time to build myself a new 37kg bent butt. The threads on this web site here convinced me to go with a purple and gold theme. Cant wait to get it out there and slay a few big blues.

    Cheers
    Pedro

    G'day Sid,

Mate they are the ALPS RX rollers and I love them, they are light and robust and they look pretty good as well.

    Damn fine job there mate.
How long did it take to build?
Love the look of the those ALPS guides. They're like the Winthrop Tools guides.

    Pedro that looks sweet mate
The guides are on backwards compared to other rods I have seen with those style guides ?
I spose it wouldn't matter as long as the roller is in the same spot
    But it looks Awsome
I might try some marbling one day

Yep I had this discussion with Bill Havens in the states over the Alps rollers and he swears that the way I have put them on is correct, I have built another 37kg bent butt with the guides on the " correct way" (oppsite to the above) but if you have a good look at the stripper the line is better coming under the first roller and then over the top of the second roller

    Cheers

Yeh Pedro...Some interesting reading on the way the stripper guide is placed....I can see then reasoning behind both ways .....
