Mercury fuel cooler, (I think), very expensive!

    Hi Guys,
Just had a Mercury fuel cooler replaced, about $300
Hope this is not a regular occurrence?

Any here have experience with these "expensive" little black boxes?
    Regards,
    Gary

I think that the fuel cooler has a high pressure fuel pump inside it as well, I had both of my fuel pumps (high and Low pressure) replaced a little while ago and I am fairly certain that you can't just get the cooler on it's own now without the pump, (at least on my model Mercruiser motor), but the replacement should last for a long time.

    Hi There,
apparently, this is just a fuel cooler,
Appears that when I had to negotiate shallow water at one of our "seldom dredged" boat ramps, it was blocked with sand etc and could not be cleared,
Time for an electric motor I guess,
They only dredge this ramp every couple of years and even then, right now! It is very shallow at low tide
    Regards,
    Gary
