    Do you use talc powder??

    Hello all.
Now seeing I'm an old fart I've always used a bit of talc powder in with my tackle box to keep the hooks, lures etc nice and dry and rust free.
Have you ever heard of this?
    Do you do this?
What other ways do you have to keep tackle in pristine condition?

    Cheers Scott

    hahaha!

i generally just throw away my chemically sharpened hooks as they cant really be sharpened. other hooks i may keep if they of a large variety and sharpen up but yeah generally just thow the littles ones away.

tackle that i used on the day such as lures i generally wash in freshwater and dry them before putting them back in the bag. prevents rust a fair bit actually.

A few silica gel sachets in the bottom of the tray seem to do the job. Just change when there full.

never heard of the talc idea. My dad and his dad would always put 1 small drop of singer oil in each of the hook compartments. I have some little tackle boxes of theirs up to 60 yrs old filled with long shanks, big mouths and gangs not a speck of rust on any
Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.

I use the silica gel sachets that come with each roll of mig wire, 2 large sachets / roll. I replace those sachets every couple of years and I do not have any rusty jig heads and regularly put wet hooks back into the box.
Flour is better used on the fish fillets I cook.

Learnt something new today I hate talcum powder goes every where but does work. When I go back to work ill get some of the silica sachets out of the wire give that a go. I wash my lures in fresh after but still find they go rusty after a while goin to try hot water.
