Advice on Deep sea fishing off The gold coast!!!

I'm doing a full day of deep sea fishing with Sweet Lips Charters and wanted to know what is bitting and what could be on the bite just after new years eve. Is there any weather pattern i should keep my eye out for to ensure a good day.

Also is there any tips anyone could give me to make the most of the day

    thanks in advice Brad.

A quick search using the search function came up with these threads on Gold Coast charter operators. A few common themes there.

The only other one that pops up from time to time on my Facebook is Paradise Fishing Charters with the Kevlacat. They seem to try hard as well as all the ones mentioned in the threads above.

    Thanks smithy,

I noticed in one the 2 link you said "You've got to remember the bottom bashing goes off in summer and is more a winter proposition".

So is bottom bashing a nickname for Deep sea fishing??
Why do you favour deep see fishing in winter compared to summer?

    cheers brad.

Bottom bashing is another nick name for reef fishing. 2 reasons. Current runs strong in summer making it hard to fish and 2, snapper, pearl perch, etc., that most people like to chase in SEQ get hard to catch in summer. I think the snapper migrate to the shelf to find cold enough water.

Re: Advice on Deep sea fishing off The gold coast!!!

I think that the Gold Coast may fish through a little better in summer but I fish mainly north and south of Cape Moreton. I don't bother going out much between December and April because it's often not good fishing conditions. I think a charter in the cooler months would be a safer bet but hopefully someone from the area who doesn't have a vested interest can share some info on the possibilities.
Hope it goes well if you get out anyway.
