    Fraser island mid august

hey everyone, i am heading down to fraser in the middle of august with five mates, for a week away We are taking two 4WDs a gx patrol and shorty landcruiser.. not taking a boat just looking forward to doing some good beach fishing, mainly chasing tailor, dart whiting and flathead.. Wondering if anyone has been up there recently or could give us any tips on prime places to fish, recent gutters etc...

Also we are camping for 4 of the days and spending the rest in a cabin but havent decided on where to camp just yet.. Were looking at camping on the western side up near watty point but were unaware of the closure between indian head and watty pt untill recently.so are in two minds now. we are looking at having a bit more of a private camp, bit more secluded, roughing it a bit, where we just have the beach to ourselves and not in a camp ground as such.. if anyone could give us any ideas would be great

    cheers stewy

There are lots of different camping zones along the eastern beach and also north of indian head / waddy point where for the most part you will have the place to yourselves. Western beach camp zones are even more secluded. Just be warned that it is not uncommon for a convoy of troop carriers to show up just on dusk and set up a tent city though, particularly if your south of indian on hte eastern beach.
