Thread: Fraser Island

    Fraser Island

Looking for accommodation on Fraser Island for a family of 4, two adults and two kids 5 and 8. I have never been to Fraser before so was looking for a central spot to base ourselves to then see all the delights Fraser has to offer. Any information on where to stay and what to see would be great.

how many nights are you going? I have a 5 and a 9 year old and we've been basing ourselves at Kingfisher in a two bedroom villa for about $160 a night. the down side is it is on the west side and an hours drive to the eastern beach. The up side is it's close to Central Station and Lake McKenzie. And it has a great jetty for fishing.

Seastorm... ..there is good accomodation (units & houses) at Yidney Rocks. Just Google Yidney Rocks.
Y Rocks is about half along Fraser ...so fairly central to all good spots....Maheno, Eli Creek.
North to Indian Head/Waddy Pt etc ..& south to Eurong & then across to Central Stn. Lake Mckenzie.
Fraser Island is an awesome place ...a lot to see in one trip ...a good excuse to go back for more !!

    Re: Fraser Island

All the townships have houses for rent. Eurong, Happy Valley and Orchid Beach.

    Try these:

These are just a few of the accomodation options for the island.

You might struggle for accomodation for September school holidays as most houses on the island are usually booked out a year in advance for this period, but with kids the age of yours they won't miss anything missing a bit of school for a holiday they'll never forget.

Happy Valley and Eurong will be your best options with kids of that age also with easy access to some great spots around the centre of the Island, I find the fishing gets better the further north you go, so now stay at Orchid Beach but my kids are now a bit older and spend more time fishing than playing.

I would suggest Orchid Beach. All the good stuff is up on the northern end.
Do a day trip or two (yes they'll be big days) down the eastern beach to see the Maheno, Eli creek, Lake McKenzie & if you a keen Lake Wabby.

But for mind the northern end is the best end!
