"tracky dacks at night around the fire"
Fire? In a barrel or something?
We had a stern talking to from the rangers about a fire last year - and we had ours in half a 44 gallon drum, well off the ground and were mainly using heatbeads.

    Re: Fraser Island 2012.

The restrictions require a Contained fire and that is something like this

Regarding your enquiry about the use of manufactured fuel within Queensland's National Parks, Forests and State Forest: Webbers, Ozpigs, Cobbs and similar enclosed cooking appliances are permitted for use on FRASER ISLAND providing: 1. They use manufactured fuel only 2. They are positioned off the ground, and 3. They are fully contained. Additional detailed information is outlined below: QPWS recommends visitors bring fuel stoves for cooking and heating, along with the appropriate manufactured fuel for the appliance. Fuel stoves are defined as a portable fully self-contained heating and cooking appliance for creating heat for comfort or cooking, using manufactured fuel. Manufactured fuels do not include wood or timber, and include a wide range of commercially available non-toxic products such as gas, liquid and solid fuels e.g. hexamine fuel blocks, briquettes or heat beads. To reduce the risk of harm to people or starting a wildfire from your fuel stove, please ensure you test the appliance before leaving on your trip and never use it in confined spaces such as tents. If a QPWS officer reasonably believes a fire (or fuel stove) is a potential hazard to the park, a person or property of a person, the officer may give the person in charge of the fire an oral or written direction to put the fire out or lower its intensity. The person must comply with the direction of the QPWS officer or penalties may apply.

    Re: Fraser Island 2012.

Thanks Brett, it'll be beach and rock fishing only this time.

Just checked the swell etc......... looks like our week will just squeeze in at the end of some nasty big swells generated down south.

Murf just got back and reckons the gutter at Waddy is all but gone, again !!!

Well, it's only 6 sleeps 'til we twaddle off.

after a few discussions, we have decided to take a heater for the girls.... one of these.

    cheers LP

sunny days and light winds......... maybe I should have grabbed Brett's tinnie

If I need to get offshore, I am sure I can grab a deckie spot on one of the pro boats.
