Talk to Duncan at Fishhead. There is a new range of moderately priced rods (under $300) from Diawa that feel very nice. Alternatively look at Pfleuger or Berkley for cheaper rods.
Plenty of options in the 1 - 3kg or 2- 4kg range...
Just starting to get into a bit of breaming on plastics, have been using my flathead gear and feel that is a bit heavy for casting light jig heads, so the question is what am i looking for in a dedicated bream rod and any suggestions? i also like 2 piece for their convienience in packing them in the car is this a disadvantage in a bream rod?

1-3kg pfluger trion, shimano bream finesse. I use my pfluger trion 2-4 kg for bream its a great rod for about 110 bucks. Matched that with a pfluger Asaro with 6lb pe braid. I don't like spending over 150 bucks for my rods as they cop a fair flogging.
In two piece the Innovator Nitro range is very good. Priced at just over $300 if you break a section they will replace it for $60. I like the 6'6" 1 - 2 Kg best but the 7 ' 1 - 3 Kg is also a good rod
