A rare catch- did you walk him before release?
Not quite..............
Tried the English coarse fishing tactics today..............swimfeeder, 6lb line, size 4 hook baited with shrimp. This bugger took me 50 minutes to land. Total tally for 6 hrs was 6 spangles, 1 silver, 2 eeltail catties and a saratoga as well as this lungy just short of a metre. Lost a beaut of a saratoga that threw the hook whilst tailwalking

Carried him to the water with every intent, but he took off........................the size of those pectoral fins, there was no slowing him down

so they fight all right then.not bad for 6 hrs fishing as that took 50 min to land.
Nice catch but personally I'd up the line to 12lbs.

That juvenile lungfish you caught is a protected species and highly endangered. Did you keep it or was it too knacked to return to water?
Big fine if you get caught by Fisheries or Rangers with one

Beautiful fish mate, they have incredible scales, something out of the last prehistoric period.
Glad to hear you returned it with care,, I never caught one though I am led to believe they are fairly tough.
Did you know they only have one lung..?
One thing though I find funny and a releif is that SEQ seems to be free of "Monster Carp",,, I remember as kid fishing out West NSW we would haul in carps that would be over 20lb all the time.
One of those would give you a run for yr money..
Cheers
Dan
Kingtin,
Yeah I read the whole piece, might have been better to place that in your first post instead instead of second post, i.e. post number 3
Kingtin, How did you work out the lungfish you caught is 70 years old and not a juvenile?
Cheers, Bondy
