    bonito for bait

I have heard bonito is a good bait for bream and flathead .Which is the best way to present it cubed or strips . Any answers will be great thanks

    Re: bonito for bait

I like small cubes for bream (at least when I used to fish for bream) and strips for flathead. Also, my preference is that if the bonito isn't particularly fresh, then I like to salt it first.

Bonito is Ok for bait for all sorts of species, as is most fish flesh, don't think they are any better than a lot of other stuff around, and the skin is so tough, you need an axe to get the last bit off the hook! If I was targeting Bream and Flathead, I kind of doubt that Bonito (or any fish flesh) would be my top pick, but it does work.

Cut it into strips to look like a small fish.

Leave a 2 inch tail below the hook.
