Ok, I am learning every day and am trawling (pardon the pun) through as much info as I can. There are some great reads to be had on this forum but in this age of short attention spans and "I want it now" I was thinking. What is the 1 sentence you would give as advice to newbies about fishing?
I will start with what I think is the most important -
Take time to plan your trip including what you need to ensure success and act on your plan.

Make sure that all your gear is working and you have the right tackle for the species your targeting.

i would be writing a very long sentence with lots of commas, colons, semi-colons that went on and on and on....... too long for me to put up here
fishing's as simple as 3 P's - patience, perserverance and PLASTIC!
Don't get caught in the mindset of thinking it's all about catching the fish.........just enjoy being out there, the fish will come.
Sharp hooks, smooth drags, good knots and quality tackle = tight lines and more fish caught

Be prepared to learn and adapt, observe and persevere.
Spend much the same amount of time in the boat at home cleaning, checking, fixing, lubricating, and planning as you do whilst in the water.
Keep the missus happy and the brownie points up
Learn how, when, where and on what your target species feed on, then learn patience to learn how to mimic that some more.
